Kim Chapter 1 Pgs. 1-3
A brief summary: A little child living in an apartment complex chooses to grow some lima beans on an empty lot to demonstrate to her deceased father that she is capable of hard work and patience. It creates a ripple effect throughout the building, causing others to reflect on their own problems and how a little girl's example of constructing a beautiful garden and cooperating may make a difference in their circumstances.
We are introduced to Kim, a young woman who lives in Cleveland in an apartment complex. She is staring at her father's portrait, unsure if he can see or remember her. He died eight months prior to her birth. Her father was a farmer in Vietnam, and she chooses to plant some lime beans on an empty lot to demonstrate her patience and determination to her father.

The city streets were occupied, with messy, riotous traffic noises. Even though this city is named ‘the city of lanterns’, no light is perceptible.
The moon was beginning to fade away and the dark blanket collapsed on the buildings slowly. The commuters were getting out of the trains, and started walking away.
A boy was in the car, glazing out the window he felt vaque. Staring outside looking at the lamp, the water drops were sliding down, curling down the pole to the floor and it was collected into a small pond underneath. The rain showered down on the floor as if it wanted the floor to suffocate.
It was a plain atmosphere, it was dark and drowsy, and the night was starting to become deprived. It almost felt as if the night was yawning from the sound of the wind. The boy yawned as well. Inside the building was a young woman, her room was undecorated, her bed was messy. Her blonde hair was knotted. Her eyes had blankets under. She was stressed, and her aura was emitting stress. She was typing as if it was her last minute.
She stopped.
And sighed.
She rested her cheek on her hand, and receded back from the table, stared at her screen and sighed again. But then, she looked out the window and her was lightened. It was a dark night and they were soft intricate detailed shapes. They were like soft, silky patels sinking down. It was like small white fairies flauting down in the air e
Answer:
The downtown streets were crowded with a cacophony of chaotic, raucous traffic sounds. Even though this city is called "the city of lanterns," there is no visible light. The moon was waning as the black blanket slowly began to fall over the buildings. The people exited the trains and began walking away.
A young man was in his automobile, and as he glared out the window, he felt vague. While staring out the window at the light, the water droplets slid down the pole, curling down to the floor and collecting in a little pond underneath. The rain pelted the floor as if it wanted to suffocate it.
It was a simple environment, gloomy and lethargic, and the night was becoming depleted. The sound of the wind nearly gave the impression that the night was yawning. The youngster, too, yawned. Within the structure lived a young lady; her room was unadorned, and her bed was untidy. Her blonde hair was tied back in a bun. Her eyes were concealed by covers. She was tense, and her aura radiated tension. She was typing as if it were the tenth hour. She came to a halt. Additionally, he sighed.
She leaned her face on her palm and stepped away from the table, glancing at her computer and mumbling once more. However, as she peered out the window, her mood improved. It was a dark night, and the forms were delicate and complicated. They sank like delicate, silken pates. It appeared as though little white fairies were flaunting in the air.

Question 1: A. of B. coffee C. leaf D. fault
For this question, we are supposed to find the word whose underlined part has a different sound from the others. In all words, the letter "f" is underlined. So, the one that has a different sound is:
A. Of
The same letter can represent different sounds when used in different words. For example, the letter "f" in "coffee", "leaf", and "fault" has a typical "f" sound.
However, that is not the case with the letter "f" in the word "of". Here, it has a "v" sound. Therefore, we can say the letter "f" in the word "of" has a different sound than in the other words.
With that in mind, we can choose option A as the one containing the word with a different sound.

The graduation ceremony in the Jewish Theater on Friday went as expected. My report card wasn't too bad. I got one D, a C- in algebra and all the rest B's, except for two B+'s and two B-'s. My parents are pleased, but they're not like other parents when it comes to grades. They never worry about report cards, good or bad. As long as I'm healthy and happy and don't talk back too much, they're satisfied. If these three things are all right, everything else will take care of itself. I'm just the opposite. I don't want to be a poor student.

If there's a prize for rotten judgment,
I guess I've already won that
No man is worth the aggravation
That's ancient history, been there, done that
Who d'you think you're kidding
He's the earth and heaven to you
Try to keep it hidden,
Honey, we can see right through you
Girl, you can't conceal it
We know how you're feeling
Who are you thinking of
No chance no way I won't say it, no no
(You swoon you sigh why deny it oh oh)
It's to cliche I won't say I'm in love
I thought my heart had learned its lesson
It feels so good when you start out
My head is screaming "Get a grip girl
Unless you're dying to cry your heart out
Girl, you can't deny it
Who you are is how you're feeling
Baby, we're not buying
Hon, we saw you hit the ceiling
Face it like a grown-up
When you gonna own up that you got got got it bad
No chance no way I won't say it, no no
(Give up, give in, check the grin you're in love)
This scene won't play I won't say I'm in love
(We'll do it until you admit you're in love)
You're way off base I won't say it
Get off my case I won't say it
(Girl don't be proud it's okay you're in love)
At least out loud I won't say I'm in love

Trucks driving themselves is sort of a scary idea but what objects coming to life, with a mind of their own is scarier? Defend your answer.
Answer:
Stephen King made his directorial debut here and he hasn't yet gone back to the chair, which is a real shame. Not because he's got tremendous talent behind the camera but instead because he could have delivered so many more, campy, non-sense movies. MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE is as bad as it's reputation would have you believe but at the same time it enters the "so bad it's good" range because of how silly it all is. Based on King's short story 'Trucks,' what basically happens is a group of people are stranded inside a truck stop as the trucks outside start to take over the world and go on a killing rampage. This is the type of bad film that everyone should really check out because it's amazing to see how poorly the final product turned out to be. In recent years King has admitted that he didn't know what he was doing and that he was snorting cocaine at the time and perhaps this is why everything here doesn't make since. I think the original story has some major logic flaws but perhaps King just didn't explain them well enough here. I still think there are some very campy and outrageous moments that make this worth viewing and most of them happen early on as the machines start to come to life. There's a coke machine death sequence, which is just priceless and campy. Then we have a steam roller death, which I'm sure looked wonderful before the MPAA got a hold of it. While watching the film I kept wondering if there was any sort of point to any of this. The movie has a very bad pace and it really just seems to go on and on without anyone knowing where to stop it. I think taking out ten or so minutes probably would have also helped it. Seeing people like Emilio Estevez and Pat Hingle adds some charm but the majority of the characters are just annoying.
